Climate Change
Climate change is a crosscutting issue affecting many island animals and plants. In 2011 Kwiaht began a survey of small low-lying islands to identify rare plants that may require rescue and relocation. Kwiaht is also identifying coastal marsh and dune habitats around the larger islands that will be most affected by forecast increases in sea levels and storminess. Adapting to climate change is a focus of the Fisherman Bay Marine Health Observatory.
